Proverbs 13:3 (The Message)

  Careful words make for a careful life;
   careless talk may ruin everything.

Men, according to this study, averaged 15,669 words a day — and women 16,215.  On average that would be about 11 words a minute.  That’s talking straight for 24 hours.  Now that ’s a lot of noise!

Have you ever considered though, what your words mean?  How much they affect you every moment of the day?  How much weight they really carry?

Have you ever said something that you meant one way but it came out way wrong?  "I can’t believe you said that…jerk…" -"No, no, no that’s not what I meant!"

How many of us have heard that one before?

According to the World of God in Proverbs, if we are careful with our words we don’t have to worry about ’saying one thing, and meaning another’.  It says to be careful with your words.  That means think about it.  If you are angry…think about what you say.  If you are careful you will have a "careful life".  Pretty simple.

But quite the opposite if we aren’t careful…we could really mess things up.  "Careless talk may ruin everything."  If we are angry, worried, confused, or whatever…if we are careless in what we say, we could literally "ruin everything". 

So the next time you are in conversation…be careful what you say.  Don’t be angry…be careful.  Don’t gossip….be careful.
