Self Check-out
Here lately I’ve been praying a lot about my lifestyle and attitude of worship. I recall Sunday mornings where I see the Spirit of God all over people and I wonder and ask, "Why am I not worshiping like that?"
Yet lately, I have been pressing through as if no one else is around. And through this God has been showing me how many of us worship on Sundays. Or even everyday.
In a world full of fast paced "ordering"…you know fast-food drive-thrus, Ebay, Online Shopping, Super Expedient Shipping….all these things give us next day arrivals of our expectations.
And many of us want our worship to be the same. We want the fast lane or self checkout when we walk into church, hoping we can just walk in and walk out, and just pay for what we want. Maybe because we don’t like to wait, or maybe we are tired of the same songs, or just the routine.
But God has a different idea of it all. You see the bible gives us the ideal image of worship through Abraham. When Abraham was told to sacrifice Isaac, his SON, which was his worship to the Lord.
Abraham even said…"I and the boy..go to worship…"
But it wasn’t something he just did. Read it. Genesis 22. God told Abraham to go. He had to travel to Moriah, and then go up the mountain….you see Abraham decided to wait in line…to do what God needed him to do. He took the time to go to the place of worship - he took the time to get to the Lord to worship, rather than just getting to self check out.
Let us challenge ourselves that when we come to worship God, we take the journey to get to the right place. We don’t try to run through the fast lane. If we do…we might just miss it all.
Some Points to Remember:
Plant yourself in the House of the Lord. When you do, you will flourish!
A building’s height is determined by how deep the foundation goes.
READ Psalms 92:13
Don’t just listen to what God says. DO what God says to DO!
Genesis 22:2 "go to the land or region of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
Don’t just come to sing, sing to worship.
Singing can change your life but worship can change your eternity. (points taken from Ricardo Sanchez blog -Worship Leader for Free Chapel church - GA)
