The Good Road Block

The Good Road Block

Matthew 7:13-14 says,  “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Jesus often talked about the road to salvation or the pathway to heaven.  He said that “I am the way, truth and the life…no one comes to the Father except through me”(John 14:6)

So many times he talked about how to get there.  But do we ever sit back to realize if we entered the right one.  Are we cruising along the wrong pathway?

You see in this passage in Matthew, Jesus says that many will go into the wide gate.  They will take the wide road.  Now that seems logical doesn’t it?  Bigger road – easier access, but that’s not what Jesus said.  He said the narrow gate is the one we should enter.

Right now if you were to go through Knoxville, you would naturally want to take the interstate.  Yeah there are other ways to get around, but I-40 is a straight shot. Right? Of course, but you may spend more time getting through there because of all the detours, construction, and everything else going on.  You might even get lost.

Our spiritual life is just the same.  Christ said that you must enter into the narrow gate in order to get where you are going.

Yet sometimes we do end up on the wrong road, and are caught up in a lot of junk.  But not all of these road blocks are bad.  Many times when we choose the wrong way, God will make a detour or a roadblock to get us back on track.  Many times these roadblocks are just what we need to keep us out of danger and hurt.

Keep your eyes open.  It may be your youth pastor, your senior pastor, a strong spiritual friend, your conscience, a prayer, or just our helper the Holy Spirit.

So if you feel like you are on the wrong path, keep an eye out for the good road block that can lead you back to Christ.
